Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA)

On 28 May 2010 the coalition government announced that CAA would come to an end. You can see the letter received by LSPs here. All work on updating the area assessment and organisational assessment will cease with immediate effect.

For further information please see the Audit Commission website, a link to this can be found below.

Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) is the performance and inspection framework which focuses on how well an area's priorities are being delivered by local authorities and partners. In Cumbria our priorities are set out in the Cumbria Community Strategy (which can be found on this website).

A number of inspectorates, led by the Audit Commission, have worked jointly together to come to an assessment. This assessment is made up of two parts: an area assessment and an organisational assessment. The final CAA information was published on 9 December 2009 and can be found on the reporting website for CAA, OnePlace. The website covers the 152 main areas in England and is brought to you by the Audit Commission, the Care Quality Commission, Ofsted, and her Majesty's Inspectorates of Constabulary, Prisons and Probation.
