We are part of the Safer and Stronger Communities directorate and have a team of skilled community engagement officers deployed in six area offices across the county. We have strong networks of local contacts and a close working relationship with local councillors and local committees. We run a programme of regular Neighbourhood Forums which bring together local people and public services to share their views and concerns. We also have a specialist central team supporting engagement in a range of areas such as practical policy implementation, working with voluntary sector, rural inclusion and locality performance management.
We are here to help all parts of the council listen and respond to the needs of local people about the places they live. This can help us make sure that we are better connected to the community, and better placed to address local concerns and shape our policies and services around the needs of local people.
You might say that we are your community conscience. We want to work with you to make sure that the council is firmly in touch with the people and places it serves.
