Thematic Partnerships of the CSP

The Thematic Partnerships of the CSP have been evolving since 2005 in response to the need to develop a Local Area Agreement (LAA) for Cumbria.  The Thematic Partnerships are a key forum through which the priorities and targets expressed in the first Cumbria Agreement (the LAA) have been developed and agreed.

The CSP recognised the wealth of expertise and effective partnerships working across key fields in Cumbria and therefore, instead of starting from scratch sought to:

  • engage with existing structures
  • influence the evolution and link with formative groups
  • stimulate the establishment of new sub-regional groups where obvious gaps have been identified

The management and coordination of the delivery of the LAA is focused on the Thematic Partnerships.  They have responsibility for identifying and tackling under and over performance and for recommending use of funds to support the delivery of the priorities identified in the Agreement.

The Thematic Partnerships are also playing a key role in the development of the refreshed Community Strategy for Cumbria, as well as the refresh of the LAA.

The operation of the Thematic Partnerships is overseen by the CSP Executive Board - and the Chair of each Thematic Partnership is a member of the Executive Board.

The Thematic Partnerships are:

  • Cumbria Children & Young People Strategic Board
  • Cumbria Health & Wellbeing Board
  • Cumbria Vision
  • Cumbria Environment & Heritage Partnership
  • Cumbria Planning, Transport & Housing Partnership
  • Cumbria Strategic Waste Partnership
  • Cumbria Safer & Stronger Communities Partnership

Further information on each of the Thematic Partnerships can be found by following the links on the right of this page.
